Strategies to Maximise Returns from Mobile Commerce

The Mobile Commerce Opportunity
Before we delve into the benefits and pitfalls of implementing a Mobile Commerce strategy in your business, let's start with a basic understanding of what we mean by Mobile Commerce.  The diagram below shows how Innovativo splits Mobile Commerce into a number of key categories, mainly Mobile Marketing, Mobile Content and Mobile Transactions.  These categories are then arranged into the sub-categories of mPayments, mCRM (Customer Relationship Management), mService and mTicketing.

Mobile Commerce Solutions from Innovativo
We can provide complete end to end solutions using our own and partner capability.  These can be tailored to meet your specific needs.  Alternatively we can develop a compelte mCommerce strategy for you, including identifying vendors and managing the complete implementation as a bespoke development project.

Key Drivers and Benefits for Mobile Commerce
Worldwide, there are over 3 billion individuals using mobile phones and this is accelerating as in 2006 an additional 1 billion handsets were shipped, a 22% increase on the previous year.  Although these are still mainly used for making calls and sending SMS text messages, more sophisticated and cheaper technology is increasing the possible uses for the humble mobile phone.
Consider then that there are only 1.8 billion people who own a credit or debit card.  Surely therefore using the mobile phone as a vehicle for mobile transactions, including payments, provides significantly more opportunity.  It doesn't stop there as the functionality of a mobile phone far outweighs that of the relatively dumb plastic cards used for today's electronic transactions.

Don't Just Take Our Word For It
Juniper Research state that the gross value of mobile payments will reach $300bn by 2013.
The mPesa peer to peer money transfer system that utilises mobile phones in Kenya saw £7.5m worth of transactions in a single month during October 2007.
Gartner claim that by 2012 20% of mobile phones will be NFC-enabled.  This means that they can be used in contactless transactions to make payments, gain entry through barriers etc.  In short, the mobile phone will replace plastic payment cards - and deliver much more.

Don't wait for your competitors to woo your customers with the benefits and lifestyle advantages of mobile commerce.
